Did your parents have high hopes and expectations for you?

Were they convinced that you would become a lawyer, doctor, teacher or successful business man who's working for a global player? Maybe they weren't that deluded but still thought you would at least have some kind of unspectacular steady 9-5 job, a partner, your own apartment and a car in your mid twenties?

[UWSL][UWSL]...or did your parents give up all hope in you at an early age? In my case I'm pretty sure that they were thinking that I would leave university and become some manager in a big company. My parents are very bluepilled but I still got a surprisingly good relationship with them. They understand how brutal the world outside is. But what hurts are [UWSL][UWSL]the looks of disappointment[UWSL][UWSL] from time to time because their son has not become the person what they thought he would become.[/UWSL][/UWSL][/UWSL][/UWSL][/UWSL][/UWSL]

[UWSL][UWSL]What about you?[/UWSL][/UWSL]

Yes, they always made me feel like some sort of genius throughout my childhood which caused me to become overconfident and pick computer related subjects in high school and college despite them repeatedly telling me to pick science. I soon realised that I wasn't cut out for coding, dropped out at age 17, then worked a minimum wage job for about a year and been neeting ever since. I think they gave up on me around age 16 when they didn't really have legal authority over me though they still keep me in the house so I'm not sure.

I think so as I got into a good high school, a "grammar school" but they always knew I wasn't a normal person so on the other hand it wasn't really a surprise to them how I ended up as a failure. When you didn't have any friends at school it was obvious that you had social issues and when you have social issues it causes a failed life because socialising is everything.

I'm sorry that it turned out for you this way. I also did very well in school and thought I could just learn and master everything I want like coding, mechanical & electrical engineering and stuff like that. And then you realize that you are limited, that hard work and dilligence will only get you so far. It hits you like a truck. There are some fields that no amount of studying hours will help you. It's all determined in our DNA and the brain power.

When I was in the library I took some mechanical engineering books and tried to understand what these guys do in the first semester. No way. Absolutely no amount of study hours would help me successfully pass the exams. But respect for holding down a job for a year, it's not easy. The longest I could endure was around 8 months.

Yes but not sure why I was a horrible student. How is your new job going? Have you burnt out yet?

I'm actually doing alright thanks for asking. They are happy with my work so far. But yeah slowly but surely getting increasingly burned out, I can already feel it.
I feel like a big muscled boxer who threw a lot of volume in the first rounds and won them all...but now in round 5 my gas tank is already starting to empty.

Should've hit them right back with the childline threats, no more child benefits for you mummy. Guess she can't have been that bothered if she sent you to live with your gran though, miles better anyway grandparents are always chill.

I was in 4th grade with straight F's because I'd be at home playing Pirates of the Caribbean (some old Disney MMO) until 5am every night sneaking around to get the laptop so I could keep binge playing vidya, I can't imagine my parents had any hopes or dreams for me, I dashed those hopes fast :feelslol: still remember a teacher seething at me asking me if I'd be OK staying at home with my parents for the rest of my life and I thought fuck yeah think of all the vidya why would I wanna be a grumpy old bitch teaching nigglets or working some shit job like McDonalds :feelslol: that teacher has no idea but that motivational pep talk was what truly awakened my transcendental sloth, literally never took a test or tried after she said that, thought I'd just be chilling at home playing vidya no matter how much I fucked up

now in my early 20s, shit :feelslol: looks like I was right

Teacher: "Do you really want this? Do you really want to end up playing videogames all day?"
Lain: "Sure why not. Sounds like heaven to me, bitch."
Teacher: *surprised Pikachu face* :soy::soy::soy: Arghhh!!!"
