Vader being Luke's dad was such a common piece of knowledge that I knew that even before I knew what Star Wars was, but I still watched what they call the "Machete Cut" (4, 5, 2, 3, 6). I was planning to watch the newer films but one look at the trailer and I knew the whole series had changed beyond recognition, and without any nostalgia to drive me I just gave up. Watched a few clips on YouTube and it became clear that the series had become garbage.

No that scene is just as good as anything in the original trilogy. I'm a prequel apologist, but I don't pretend they are objectively good films.
