I am in strange place, I still have urge to play games but I get almost no dopamine from it. I keep jumping from game to game, at best I will get hooked to some game for 2-3days max and then its over. And worst is, If I spend a lot of hours playing something then before going to bed I feel like shit because my mind tells me I literally wasted time on something that I don't even enjoy as much. Nothing is fun anymore, I miss playing same game for months 16h a day.

Anyone in similar spot? Also question for everyone who has quit vidyajew, how did you do it?

I'm the same most of the time. What platform do you play games on mostly/what kind of games? I have nothing but my computer to game on, selling my graphics card definitely helped reduce the amount of gaming I did. So did switching operating systems since I was mostly clueless on how to install the majority of my library. Not sure if you want to restore the magic or just stop playing. I wouldn't recommend completely forcing yourself to stop playing, just make it more difficult/limit your choices. I was still mostly playing newish games when I had a gpu, there were a few decent ones but not having one let me go back and appreciate some of the classics that I missed due to young age, no money to buy them as a kid or not being alive.

I flirt with the idea of quitting videogames all the time, almost on a daily basis. I've quit them in the past too, I can't help but feel they are an objective waste-of-time. I've experienced what you have with jumping from game to game, almost searching out something to occupy my time, desperate for something to give me that dopamine and for the boredom to go away. Frankly I think you and me are either 1) addicted 2) habitually play videogames because its how we've always spent our time.
When I've quit video games in the past I've done it cold turkey. I'm not capable of much productivity unless I do. I find that when I allow myself some time to play videogames, say at the end of the day, that time slowly creeps forward until it seizes my entire day, hence why I've decided that while I don't even enjoy videogames I may be an addict, well a dopamine addict.
It feels like shit for the first few days to a week, and really you don't want to be replacing videogames with other dopamine jewery like youtube and certainly not something like tiktok if you use that. Effectively you have to be bored as shit and then learn to exist with that as your natural state.

Ganbatte Fabio, wish me luck for when I try again.

PC. Mostly, mmorpgs and strategy - old ones. I know magic can't be restored and new vidya doesn't interest me.

Yeah, I done it in the past the cold turkey way too. Would last for few months until the idea "maybe it will be fun now that I haven't played for sometime" creeps in.

And it is! For maybe a week, then its back to feeling like shit. The worst part is it decimates my ability to enjoy just about anything else. I can't simply do nothing and take in the moment, I'm waiting to get back to playing games. I can't focus on anything because I'm just waiting to get back to turning my brain off to play games. It's the same as when I try to hybrid it, games only after dinner lets say. I find that the entire "productive day" I'm rushing to get towards my "comfy-time" or whatever, everything is done worse, I take no enjoyment out of it.
Games are a cancer and China has it right banning children from playing them

What do you tend to do on "productive days" when you're not hybriding it? Even on my productive days I'll just end up speaking to someone, eating sandwich after sandwich, smoking cigarette after cigarette and drinking glasses of water repeatedly. I'm incapable of sitting here and doing nothing to try to unfry my dopamine receptors and if I try reading I end up zoning out halfway through a page without absorbing much information. Most I can stick to is exercise since it doesn't require much focus and gives you a nice little dopamine boost anyway. If you don't have any clear goals and are just trying to be productive for the sake of being productive you're doomed to fail.

More recently trying to read through the reading list that's at the end of the book "How To Read A Book", you can find a copy of it here if you're curious whats in it.
I also like tinkering with PCs, I think programmings gay but just generally playing around with them, doing some boxes on HTB is pretty fun too so I got back into doing that. But also like I said previously, my ability to just enjoy the day increased immensely. Even though a lot of my time was empty time, say I only was productive 2-4 hours a day and the rest was mostly spent like you mentioned, speaking to someone, actually spending time making food I like etc.
There's no need to be unrealistic about how much productivity you can manage at the start, I quite literally began with 10 minutes a day and worked up to it. I can now just about focus on a single task for around an hour before needing to move onto something else. It's a muscle you must exercise or it atrophies

Short circuited my brain here having me thinking about why and when i turned into a nigger I think I need sleep but I'm not tired been thinking about this for too long but it killed a few hours:mmm:. Need to run out of money before I can even think of doing something productive or my brain's just constantly thinking about my next dopamine hit. Maybe I'll make buy a vps and have a play about with that. I tried to think of a response but they were all gay excuses so i didn't post.

How old are you? I'm 22 and if I end up not being able to enjoy video games anytime soon then how will I cope?

I found this too. I mostly just play the single player campaign on shooters like Call of Duty and Gears of War now.

Fabio, what do you think was the best Total War game? For me it was Fall of the Samurai and Empire.

Video games are one of, if not the worst form of entertainment for the dopamine reward center. More and more people are becoming addicted and dont even know it. Do regular dopamine fasts and quit everything that you know is frying your brain. Some examples being video games, fapping/porn, drugs and limit internet use.

You can de-nigger yourself my friend, it just takes time. Ignore the gay excuses that your brain conjures to keep you on the intravenous drip of dopamine, mine does the same. Expect to have setbacks, even fail a few times, but keep at it and soon enough you'll be a happier and healthier individual. Just make sure not to become despondent from failing, don't take yourself too seriously.

Video games are for soys, I don't gain pleasure from them unless it was an immersive sports game like PES 21 which I enjoyed.

Do you live in the countryside or a city/town? From the brief interaction I had with you your head seemed screwed on right so I assumed you were foreign, every other British person i've encountered on here has posted at least one picture of themselves.

Countryside, close enough that I can easily travel into a city though.
I don't think there is a single picture of me online, none that I have posted myself for sure.

I still play a bit but not nearly as much as I used to as a teencel. 2 hours max tbh, very rarely more when I find something that's somewhat challenging/fresh. I rather read or ldar nowadays. most vidya is just shit/lonely/ragie nowadays, indies are unironically your best bet
